Doli Mail Later lets you schedule the emails you send from Dolibarr for a chosen day and time, instead of sending them right away.
Features
Scheduling an email
On the sending screen of a third party, a proposal or a customer invoice, a Schedule sending button sits next to Send email. It opens a small window with a day, a time and three ready-made shortcuts: in 15 minutes, in 30 minutes, in 2 hours. You prepare the email exactly as usual; instead of leaving, it waits in a queue and leaves on its own when its time comes.
The sender and the recipient are checked when you schedule: an email without a valid sender or recipient address is refused right away, it never enters the queue only to fail on the planned day.
What you read is what leaves
The email is frozen when scheduled: recipients resolved, template variables replaced, attached documents copied into the folder of the module. Regenerating or deleting the original invoice does not change what will be sent.
Warning when an email is already waiting
When an email is already waiting for the same customer, a red banner appears above the sending form. It counts the emails of every user, so that two colleagues do not write twice to the same customer, and lets you read each of them before writing another one.
An envelope in the top bar shows how many emails are waiting to leave; a click opens the queue on them.
The queue
The Doli Mail Later menu lists every scheduled email, filtered by state or customer. The card of an email shows it as it will leave, and lets you move its planned time, send it now, cancel it or move it to the trash. States: waiting, sent, refused by the mail server, held, canceled.
Old emails are not woken up
A scheduled job sends due emails every five minutes. If the server was stopped and a planned time is past by more than the tolerated delay (two days by default), the email is held instead of being sent, and waits for your decision.
The agenda tells the truth
Scheduling an email creates an agenda event linked to the customer and to the source document. It is updated when the email leaves, is canceled, held or refused: the agenda never announces a sending that did not happen.
Triggers for developers
At each step, the module fires a trigger under its own name: DOLIMAILLATER_MAIL_SCHEDULED, DOLIMAILLATER_MAIL_RESCHEDULED, DOLIMAILLATER_MAIL_SENT, DOLIMAILLATER_MAIL_ERROR, DOLIMAILLATER_MAIL_HELD, DOLIMAILLATER_MAIL_CANCELED. The listener receives the scheduled email as $object: third party, source document, planned time, addresses, subject and state.
Installation
- Download the module zip file.
- Log in to Dolibarr as administrator, go to Home - Setup - Modules/Applications, tab Deploy/install external app/module, and upload the zip.
- Activate Doli Mail Later in the module list.
The module creates its two tables and its scheduled job automatically. The Dolibarr job scheduler must be enabled and called by your server, otherwise nothing leaves. When upgrading, disable then enable the module again.
Setup
Doli Mail Later - Setup, reserved to administrators:
- the tolerated delay before an overdue email is held (2880 minutes, two days, by default; zero holds nothing),
- the three shortcuts of the scheduling window, in minutes (15, 30 and 120 by default).
Three permissions: read the scheduled emails; schedule, move or cancel a sending; move a scheduled email to the trash.
