FAQ Who uses Dolibarr
Dolibarr is designed for users looking for a software package to manage the activities of their company or foundation, easily and anywhere. Dolibarr's modularity allows users to have software that perfectly adapts to their needs, whatever the type of business. Dolibarr is used by the following types of users:
- Small, medium and large companies
- Foundations
- Freelancers
It is not possible to know exactly how many users use Dolibarr in the world, because Dolibarr is distributed through many alternative channels that we do not control. All we can say is that we experience 3,000 new downloads per week, but only from the mirror download server and most installations are done through other channels (ready to use cloud offer, software market places, custom-installation of integratrors, ...). Having over 1 million users worldwide can be a good estimate.
30 to 40% of users are B2C.
It is not possible to know exactly how many users use Dolibarr worldwide, because Dolibarr is distributed through a large number of varied alternative channels for which it is not possible to have a centralized view. However, we have some metrics that allow us to make estimates:
Users
Globally, what we can say:
The Dolibarr association has counted 1,350 new organizations (with 1 to 100 users) per week for several years, based solely on voluntary pings made during a manual installation of the application (checkbox in the manual installation process: "I agree to inform the association of my installation," analysis conducted in 2024). This represents only a tiny fraction of installations, as most software distributions or installations are done through other channels (automated SaaS deployments or installation of turnkey packages from integrators who do not share this information). 200,000 user organizations worldwide may therefore be a good estimate, or, based on an average of 5 users per organization, 1 million users worldwide
Another possible line of analysis for France alone, for example:
The exploration rate of the online solution (= number of institutions testing the online solution with a view to adoption and agreeing to communicate this fact) is 192 new institutions per day, including 61 by a French institution (associations, businesses, or self-employed individuals) in 2024 (figure collected through voluntary pings to the Dolibarr association). Unfortunately, it is not possible to date to provide the adoption rate (= number of actual user companies that therefore go beyond simple exploration) because the strong sovereignty protection policy means that the software is not equipped with a centralized counting tool, the market being distributed among hundreds of partners in France whose activity and the data generated remain their property. However, the partners who agree to communicate their conversion rate after exploration have a rate between 2 and 20%. Based on an average rate of 10%, we can therefore estimate, for France, that the software adoption rate is at least 6 new user institutions per day, and this for 20 years, and only on a count of user companies agreeing to communicate the information! This represents a total of nearly 44,000 installations with actual use explicitly declared. Even taking into account abandonment (the monthly abandonment rate is estimated at 1.5% among French Dolibarr SaaS hosts), the current installed base is likely 5 to 20 times higher if we include the vast majority of companies that installed the application through a partner or a SaaS deployment without first undergoing a manual installation with a discovery declaration. Also, the number of French enterprise or self-employed users currently using the software is estimated by the association to date at nearly 100,000 in France. Based on an average of 5 users per organization, this represents nearly 500,000 users in France.
